Welcome to the third annual MCG-GS Savannah Community Engaged Research Conference. Today brings together students, faculty, clinicians, and community partners from Georgia Southern University and the Medical College of Georgia around a central guiding question: How can research improve health in Coastal Georgia? This year’s theme, Bridging Science, Care, and Community in the AI Era, runs through the program, from talks on trust in AI-enabled care to field projects with fishing communities, farm families, firefighters, and nursing home staff.

Join us on social media as we celebrate One Health Day with a week-long spotlight on the interconnected well-being of humans, animals, and the environments we share. Through research highlights, practical resources, and real-world examples, we'll showcase how One Health principles are making a difference in our communities. November 3: What is One Health? Learn how human, animal, and environmental health are interconnected and learn about the newly funded Canada-based Human-Animal Connections Network. November 4: Research to Action

The Mahr One Health Lecture by Dr. John M. Dye will examine the Bundibugyo ebolavirus outbreak in Africa and the Andes hantavirus outbreak, two events that highlight how emerging zoonotic viruses can cross species barriers and challenge existing diagnostics, vaccines, therapeutics, and public health systems.
